What is sciatica pain?

The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body. The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back and pelvis and on down to the back of each leg. Sciatica pain can be incredibly painful, and the back pain can radiate down into the buttock, buttocks, lower back, lower leg and buttocks. The radiation comes because the big ball muscles get too tense and the sciatic nerve gets pinched.

Why do you get sciatica pain?

The pain most often starts in the lower back and, over time, without treatment, will begin to radiate down the leg or go away on its own. Sciatica pain often occurs when overloading or by repetitive movements. If you have a hard physical work and you do a lot of lifting during the day, you may experience an overload of the lumbar muscles, which affects the sciatic nerve. If you have a sedentary job and sit in the same position for a long time, the lumbar muscles will have difficulty excreting waste substances and thus be supplied with fresh oxygen and nutrition. This affects your lower back muscles and can thereby affect your sciatic nerve and result in back pain.
